Welcome! I am a Senior Researcher with the Religion & Inclusive Societies program at the United States Institute of Peace and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Notre Dame's Center for the Study of Religion and Society. My research and teaching investigate religious and political violence; state counterinsurgency and repression; and foreign
policy decision making. I received my Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley. And,
I am the recipient of the American Political Science Association's 2019 Aaron Wildavsky Award for the best dissertation
in the field of religion and politics.

My published work is forthcoming or has appeared in the Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion, the Journal of Conflict Resolution, the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Politics, Sage Research Methods Cases, and St. Antony’s International Review. I have also contributed to edited volumes on the military chaplaincy and interfaith dialogue. My research has been featured by the Washington Post, the SiriusXM POTUS Political Channel, USIP's On Peace podcast, the Research on Religion Podcast, Notre Dame's Ansari Institute for Global Engagement with Religion, and the Berkeley Center for the Study of Religion and Society.

I have received support for my research from the National Science Foundation, the University of California Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation, the Berkeley Institute of International Studies, the Berkeley Center for the Study of Religion, and the Phi Beta Kappa Northern California Association. I was a Junior Visiting Researcher with the Varieties of Peace Program at Umeå University in 2019 and a Visiting Fellow at the Uppsala Forum on Democracy, Peace and Justice in 2015.
